Asmodee is stepping up efforts to support independent retailers when non-essential stores across the country reopen on April 12, with the launch of a nationwide Love Your Game Store campaign.
The initiative was conceived as a way to encourage customers to walk through the doors of their local hobby shops by offering them the chance to win a cash prize of £ 1,000. From April 12 to May 31 of this year, any customer who makes a purchase in person at a participating independent retailer will have a chance to enter the raffle.
In addition, ten more names will be drawn across the country to earn £ 50 store credit for the retailer they purchased from. There will also be a new draw for each participating retailer, offering a customer at each store a selection of free board games.
Asmodee’s move is the latest in a series of initiatives and proposals to help support independent Main Street retailers when the doors reopen next month. This week, the street heroine Mary Portas joined Charlotte Tilbury in a call for the government to implement a Shop Out to Help Out program similar to Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s Eat Out to Help Out campaign last August.
The campaign was created to help the local retailer survive the social restrictions and months of lockdowns that hit Main Street businesses during the pandemic.
Previously, Asmodee has been championed by independent retailers for the support the board game giant has offered to many throughout the crisis.
“Independent leisure retailers have always been and always will be essential to our business, and we are committed to helping them get started as soon as non-essential retail stores reopen,” said Roger Martin, director of leisure and independent chain. Asmodee.
“They are also beloved community centers for their clients, who we know will be just as happy as we are for the opportunity to show their support after the challenges of several blockages.”
Participants who make multiple visits to their local store or even to different participating retailers on different days can continue to submit their details for each purchase up to one per day, encouraging greater engagement for greater chances of winning.
The campaign will be supported by online advertising and extensive social media support using the dedicated hashtag #loveyourgamestore, with printable point-of-sale material and social resources to distribute to participating retailers.
